Administrative Law
Our practice relating to government and municipal law includes counsel and representation regarding matters handled by Florida state and federal government departments and agencies. At the state level, we handle matters before many agencies, including the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
Our experience at the federal level includes representing and advising clients on matters involving the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission), and FTC (Federal Trade Commission).
Appeals
Our attorneys represent clients in appeals from final and interlocutory court orders in all Florida state and federal courts. We also handle appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth and Eleventh Circuits and petitions for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. Aviation Law
We handle a wide range of matters relating to aviation law, including claims and court actions against airline companies. Our attorneys also provide clients with counsel and representation on airplane sale contracts, aviation regulations and taxes, airplane maintenance company collections, pilot and student licensing matters, and other aviation law matters.
Bankruptcy Litigation
Our Waugh Law attorneys represent creditors in adversary proceedings and contested matters in bankruptcies filed in all United States Bankruptcy Courts in Florida and also in the Bankruptcy Courts in the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, Central Illinois, and Colorado.
Business & Corporate Law
Many of our clients at Waugh Law are businesses and corporations. We provide legal services for businesses of all sizes and types in many different markets and industries, from billion-dollar international companies to local mom-and-pop enterprises.
Our business and corporate clients count on us to provide counsel to support their day-to-day operations, in areas including contract review, drafting, and negotiation; regulatory compliance; labor and employment law; and franchise law. We also assist with matters relating to business formation and choice of entity, management, ownership, and governance.
Construction Law
Our attorneys handle a wide range of matters that relate to design and construction of improvements on private and public projects. We provide both transactional and litigation support for our clients who encounter Florida construction law issues in a business or personal context.
Eminent Domain
Our real estate practice includes all aspects of eminent domain law, including inverse condemnation. We represent governments, including counties and municipalities, as well as community redevelopment agencies and individual landowners in eminent domain matters.
Employment & Labor Law
We advise and represent employers on all issues relating to employment and labor law. Our services include providing counsel on specific workplace issues, regulatory compliance, and development of policies and practices in the client’s business environment. We also represent our employer clients in employment litigation.
First Amendment Issues
Attorney Christian Waugh has a special interest in matters affecting an individual’s rights under the First Amendment of the United States and Florida Constitutions. Whether a First Amendment issue arises as a central question in a case or as a secondary matter in the underlying circumstances, we feel strongly that the guaranteed rights to freedom of speech, religion, and the right to assemble peaceably must be protected forcefully.
Government & Municipal Law
In addition to our administrative law practice before state and federal agencies, our government practice includes counsel and representation for Florida local governments, as well as individuals and businesses who need assistance with matters at the county or municipal level. International Law
Our clients include international companies and U.S. companies with international business interests. Our attorneys also handle cases with international law issues that affect U.S. citizens, such as airline company claims. In addition, international commercial arbitration is a special area of interest for attorney Christian Waugh.
Litigation
Civil litigation is a primary focus of our attorneys at Waugh Law. We handle court actions for a broad range of substantive areas in all Florida federal and state courts and in select federal courts outside the state. Trusts, Estate Planning & Probate
Waugh Law provides clients with legal services relating to trusts, estate planning, and Florida probate and estate administration. We help clients determine the appropriate structure for their estate and prepare wills, trusts, Florida durable powers of attorney, and other documents essential to an estate plan. Following the death of a client’s loved one, our lawyers shoulder the burden of navigating through Florida probate and estate administration.
Our estate and probate practice also includes elder law services. We provide all the special services necessary to protect a senior and address the unique and changing needs of elder clients. We also assist family members with guardianship and conservatorship proceedings in Florida probate court.
